1 Ao Chaloklum

Location : North West of Koh Phangan Ao Chaloklum The beach on Ao Chaloklum is about two and a half kilometres long, with the main village of Chaloklum right in the centre. As the place is still primarily a fishing village, the fishing trade dominates the mid-section of the beach where the village is located. This is where the local fishermen keep their longtail boats, and the image of all the wonderfully colourful handcrafted boats with their 100 BHP truck engines on the back is a great view to take in while eating in the local restaurants there.

How to get there
Chaloklum Bay is located in the northern part of Koh Phangan about 15 kilometers from the port Tong Sala. Local buses are available for transportation daily.

2 Ao Srithanu

Location : North West of Koh Phangan Ao Srithanu Leam Sri Thanu is a peninsula between Hin Kong and Ao Sri Thanu. It extends far out from the coast and the small beaches on its coastline are close to the coral reef. The beach is split by a river estuary on the northern end of Sri Thanu Bay and it can only be reached by a footbridge. The is beach wide and the sand is plentiful.

Ban Sri Thanu, the local village and small fishing port is a quaint and interesting place with quite a lot going on. There are several bars and great value Thai restaurants, as well as a market and food area that is located at the main crossroads.

How to get there
It is located the west side of Koh Phangan and about 12 kilometers by local buses to the beach from Thong Sala port.

3 Bottle Beach

Location : North West of Koh Phangan Bottle Beach Bottle Beach (Haad Khuat) is one of Koh Phangan’s most famous beaches. It is a Mecca for long-termers and old school Phangan visitors. Many consider Bottle Beach to be one of the most beautiful places of the island because of its wide golden shoreline and the lush mountainous surroundings. Its inaccessibility has meant visitors tend to stay longer than a week and it is usually reached by boat taxi from Chaloklam.

How to get there
Easy to trek in about 2 hours, leaving from the western end of Chaloklum follow the dirttrack around to Haad hom and then becomes a narrower winding path sharply uphill and onto Bottle Beach.

4 Mae Haad Beach

Location : North West of Koh Phangan Mae Haad Beach Mae Had has gone through some changes recently, it has significantly improved the road connections and there is a village building up behind it. The beach is rather long, so even though there are quite a few resorts it is still enough space for privacy. It has sunset views over Koh Ma and the waters and coral reef that surround it are designated as a Marine Park as they are so rich in sea life, with turtles and small reef sharks. The beach has a sand bar that you can walk across to reach Koh Ma.

How to get there
The beach is located on the northwest side of Koh Phangan, near Salad beach. It is about 15 kilometers by a local bus from Thong Sala.

5 Nam Tok Beach

Location : North East of Koh Phangan Nam Tok Beach Nam Tok Beach (Waterfall Beach) is close to Thaan Prawet Waterfall and can be reached via a small trail. The waterfall is rather isolated but there are a few good value resorts with a traditional feeling.

How to get there
is located on the north east of Koh Phangan. It is accessible via a small track or by boat.

6 Rin Beach

Location : South East of Koh Phangan Rin Beach Rin Beach can be divided into two sections with different characteristics. Rin Beach Nok is the energetic party beach while Rin Beach Nai has a quieter bohemian feel to it. Rin Beach Nok has the biggest concentration of accommodation, clubs and bars. When staying here, you are right in the middle of the party vibe. The beach itself is one of the biggest on the island and it fills with sunbathers by day and party goers at night, visiting the many beach clubs and bars that Rin Beach is so famous for.

How to get there
Had Rin is located on the southeastern tip of the island, 12 kilometers south from the district Office in Ban Thong Sala or take a ferry directly from Koh Samui to get there.

7 Salad Beach

Location : North West Coast of Koh Phangan Salad Beach A beautiful and secluded beach known by the Thai’s as an old place for pirates who came here to hide out until their ships were full of booty until moving off to trade. In the high tidal season of November to April Salad Beach provides good swimming and a reef of 150 metres just offshore.

How to get there
From Samui continue with boat to Thong Sala pier. Lomprayah catamaran takes 20 mins and leaves Mae Nam beach on Koh Samui 08:00 am, 12:30 pm. and 05:30 pm. There is also Seatran Express at 01:30 pm. that leaves from Bophut. The last boat from Koh Samui leaves Bophut 06:30 pm. and arrives at Rin Beach on Koh Phangan.

8 Thong Nai Pan Beach

Location : North West of Koh Phangan Thong Nai Pan Beach Thong Nai Pan beach is the second most beautiful beach on Ko Pha-ngan. The beaches of Thong Nai Pan divide to be Thong Nai Pan Noi and Thong Nai Pan Yai which two beaches are separated by a headland where Panviman hotel is situated. Thong Nai Pan Yai is longer beach than Thong Nai Pan Noi but both Thong Nai Pan Yai and Thong Nai Pan Noi is the beautiful beaches, crystal clear water, towering palm trees, hidden waterfalls and massive granite boulders make the area a nature lover's paradise.

How to get there
Located at Mu 5, Ban Tai Sub-district, approximately 23 kilometers from the District Office is the second most beautiful beach on Koh Pha-ngan. To reach this beach, either take a boat or songthaew from Thong Sala Pier. The songthaew fare is 80 baht / trip / person while that of chartered boats is up to negotiation.

9 Tien Beach

Location : North West of Koh Phangan Tien Beach Tien Beach   is known among foreign tourists as Rocky Bay because is an isolated beach with a reef. The sea water is absolutely clear and the beach is lined with coconut palms. Swimming here is only possible during the high tidal season, November to April.


10 Yao Beach

Location : North West of Koh Phangan Yao Beach Yao Beach or Long Beach is like a postcard picture. The one kilometer long beach is wide enough to play football on. The beach offers great sunset views, coral reef, beautiful vistas and enough space to allow its continuously growth of popularity. For many visitors, this is the “perfect” beach.

Yao Beach is a scenic secluded bay with white sand and clear waters and is only accessible on foot or by boat, there are only two resorts and both have to generate their own power giving it a real desert island feel.

The beach is located on the west side of koh Phangan and about 13 kilometers from Thong Sala. Local buses are available to the beach.

1 Koh Ma

Location : North West Coast of Koh Phangan Koh Ma Koh Ma is a nature wonder with unique characteristics to area of the Koh Phangan island. Koh Ma is connected to Koh Phangan by a single long stretch of golden white sand. On a perfect day the island boasts clear blue sea, colorful corals and a rich array of marine life. It is easily possible to spend hours exploring the reef parallel to the beach and around the island. On the beachfront there are also several excellent restaurants and bungalows.


2 Koh Tae Nai

Location : South Coast of Koh Phangan Tae Nai Island Koh Tae Nai is a small island situated just outside Tong Sala on Koh Phangan. You can reach the island within five minutes by boat. The high jungle-covered hills, the long golden sandy beach and its thriving coral reefs are some of its major attractions of Koh Tae Nai.

How to get there
Only 10 minutes by boat from Thong Sala port. From Haad Yuan.

3Koh Tae Nok

Location : South West Coast of Koh Phangan Tae Nok Island Koh Tae Nok is a small island, located near Thongsala on the south coast of Koh Phangan. Koh Tae Nok is a great local boat dive, with reef fish, hard corals and the odd small reef shark.

How to get there
Only 10 minutes by boat from Thong Sala port. From Haad Yuan.

4Koh Tao (Tao Island)

Location : North of Koh Phangan Tao Island Koh Tao or Turtle Island, is a diver’s paradise. It is located between Surat Thani and Chumpon provinces and only a 2 hour boat ride north of Koh Samui. It has been dabbed the best dive site in the Gulf of Thailand. Abounding with beautiful bays, white sand beaches, beautiful coastal rocks and crystal clear water, Koh Tao is simply a heaven on earth. A plethora of seaborne activities are waiting to be discovered. There are many diving schools on the island if you don’t know how to dive and want to explore the underwater world which is said to best in the Gulf of Thailand. On land, you can enjoy fresh seafood at restaurant, sipping tropical cocktails in a bar by the beach or going shopping for some souvenirs. Relaxing body and mind at spa or some active sports are also available for those who would like to get the adrenaline running. How to get there
Subject to weather conditions, there are daily express boats between Thong Sala and Ko Tao, 47 km north, at 02:30 pm. The trip takes 2 1/2 hours. Rossarin Tour operates speed boats between Thong Sala and Ka Tao a couple of times a day; the crossing only takes about an hour.
